CAF SIGNALLING WILL RENOVATE AND MAINTAIN THE EL BERRÓN, SANTANDER, BILBAO, LEÓN, AND OVIEDO CTC SYSTEMS

Adif has awarded CAF Signalling with several contracts to draft construction plans, execute renovation work, and maintain CTC (Centralised Traffic Control) systems at the command posts in El Berrón (Asturias), Santander, and Bilbao (metric gauge) and in León and Oviedo (conventional gauge).

The total amount of the two contracts is approximately sixteen million euros. The amount of the first contract comes to 8,281,126 euros and the second is worth 7,746,942 euros.

The execution terms vary depending upon the different actions contemplated; thus, project plan drafting will take four months, renovation work execution will take twenty months, and maintenance of the modified installations will be for a period of twenty years.

Main actions to be undertaken on the CTC systems:

The main actions include the substitution of the current CTC systems at the command posts in El Berrón (Asturias), Santander, and Bilbao. In the case of León and Oviedo, the NAOS Integrated Control Centre will be installed, which features a more modern, reliable, and safer architecture. Additionally included is the implementation of standard ADIF protocol for the remote operation of interlocking systems.
