CAF SIGNALLING WILL INSTALL THE NEW ABS SYSTEM ON THE BUÑOL-UTIEL STRETCH

Adif has awarded CAF Signalling with the tasks of project planning and work execution for a new ABS (Automatic Block Signalling System) on the Buñol-Utiel track stretch (Aranjuez – Valencia Font de Sant Luis line). This stretch measures 46 kilometres and its execution term is 10 months.

The contract represents an investment of 6,442,131.24 million euros.

The installation of the ABS will improve operation of the conventional line that connects the capitals of Valencia and Cuenca by means of Utiel. Additionally, it will allow for the line’s capacity to be increased and for traffic to be managed from a command station where signals and track changes can be triggered.

This investment will improve the performance of the Buñol-Utiel stretch and increase regularity, as well as streamlining management operations and optimising railway traffic circulation.

Main actions included in this project:

  • Installation of new Quasar electronic interlocking systems at the El Rebollar and Utiel stations.
  • Announcement of signals and automatic braking (ASFA) systems will be supplied at stations and along the route.
  • Installation of various field elements, and associated civil works projects.
