CAF SIGNALLING OBTAINS THE OFFICIAL STANDARD CERTIFICATE FOR ITS RBC AS AN INTEROPERABILITY COMPONENT FOR ERTMS SYSTEMS, LEVEL 2

On 16 December 2011 CETREN, acting as a Notified Body, granted CAF Signalling, S.L. the Standard Examination Certificate to accredit that the Radio Block Centre (RBC) designed and manufactured by the company meets the requirements foreseen in Directive 2008/57/EC, on the interoperability of railways systems, as amended by applicable Directives 2009/131/EC and 2011/18/EU and relevant Technical Interoperability Specifications in relation to “Control, Command and Signalling” subsystems of the Trans-European High-Speed Rail Network.

Of relevance is the fact that this is the first Certificate to be issued by CETREN in favour of an RBC as a generic product/application, not for its specific application in a given railway line.

With this Certificate, CAF Signalling is already offering a key consolidated product for ERTMS Systems, level 2, which meets all the technical conditions required in international markets.

With the achievement of this significant milestone we have extended our range of High-Speed Signalling solutions under strict ERTMS regulations which, beyond Europe, is becoming a world standard for which Spain acts as a leading reference.

Furthermore, in 2011 ADIF already conducted the relevant tests in the RBC System filed for ERTMS, level 2, further to the Collaboration Agreement for the “TAISE” [Tecnologías Avanzadas para la Implantación de Sistemas ERTMS-Advanced Technologies for the Implementation of ERTMS Systems] Project, the activities of which include the Installation, Experimentation and Demonstration of a railtrack ERTMS system.

Moreover, since 1 January 2012, CAF is now a UNISIG associated member, thanks to our references in Signalling System Technology and Implementation.

As a result, CAF Signalling is now part of a select company group that offers recognised and certified solutions for ERTMS technology worldwide.
